FAQs

IS CAMPING ALLOWED ON THE RICHMOND LIVE SITE?

Camping is not allowed on the site but there are local camp sites.

CAN BEER OR WINE BE BROUGHT ONTO THE SITE?

No alcoholic drink can be brought onto the Richmond Live festival site. This is a stipulation in our Safety Management Plan to which we must comply in order to continue holding the festival.

WHO ORGANISES THE FESTIVAL?

The Festival is organized and run by a volunteers from Richmond. There is a Richmond Live committee which meets regularly, and new members are always welcome. Please use the email address at the top of the page if you wish to contact the committee.

WHAT IS THE TICKET PRICING POLICY?

It is the intention of the Richmond Live team to provide a very high quality programme of musical entertainment while maintaining our historically remarkably low ticket price for every event. The ticket prices are kept as low as possible in order to only cover the cost of running the event. If you were to look at other festivals around the country you will see that Richmond Live offers fantastic value for money. The entry fee alone to concerts by most of the artists on the main event programme would cost as much, if not more, than the cost of a weekend ticket to our event.

ARE THERE CONCESSIONARY PRICES?

Our policy on concessionary tickets is very similar to box office arrangements for other, comparable local music festivals, in that they apply only to those under 12 years of age (i.e. free entry when accompanied by a paying adult) and not to senior citizens. The audience demographic of local music festivals is such that concessionary senior citizen pricing would very nearly double the face value of all tickets in order that the festival stayed on an even financial footing. We emphasize that even at full price these tickets represent extraordinary value for money and are considerably lower than the concessionary ticket prices you would expect to pay for the same event at a theatre. The concession for the under-12s is intended to try to attract the next generation of audience (and performers) into the music community, a role which we feel is a vital part of a local music festival.

WHAT DO I RECEIVE WHEN BUYING TICKETS ONLINE?

When purchasing tickets online you will receive a confirmation email from Paypal . You must print this and bring it with you on the day of the event to receive entry and your confirmation email will be exchanged for wristbands. You will not receive paper tickets or order confirmation unless special arrangements have been made.

HOW IS RICHMOND LIVE FUNDED?

The main event costs a lot of money to stage. A small amount of funding comes in throughout the year from fundraising events held around the town. Funding for the main event is generated through advertising with our sponsors, from donations (‘Friends of Richmond Live’ for example.), from traders at the festival itself and of course from monies received on the gate throughout the duration of the vent. The festival itself makes little overall profit each year. Any profits left after paying the festival bills are used to cover costs such as advertising, printing of brochures and tickets, and so on. Any remaining profits are re-invested the following year. All costs are kept to a minimum in order to keep ticket prices low.

CAN I MAKE SUGGESTIONS?

The Richmond Live committee welcomes any comments and questions on the running of the festival – contact us using the form provided on the contact page of the website. Please feel free to provide feedback on the festival as a whole or on individual fundraising events. If you wish to suggest either a specific act or a type of entertainment for a future event, please feel free to do so and provide as much information as possible. Please bear in mind that we can’t guarantee to take up any specific suggestions.

HOW DO I GET A GIG AT RICHMOND LIVE?

We are always on the look-out for new talent or for artists and bands who have never played before but would love the opportunity to play in a festival environment. Contact us via our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/RichmondLiveUK/

CAN I BRING MY DOG ONTO THE SITE?

Sorry, but dogs or any other domesticated animal are not allowed to be brought onto site. This is for hygiene and health and safety reasons so that we comply with our Event Safety Management Plan.

CAN I BRING A FOLD-UP CHAIR OR GAZEBO?

These can be brought if you feel like carrying them. Obviously when putting something up like a gazebo some thought and consideration must be made for those people around you.

DO I NEED TO BRING ID?

Not if you are over 21. If you are under 21 please read the Challenge 21 rules below:
Richmond Live will be operating the Challenge 21 initiative which aims to cut down on underage alcohol sales and highlights the fact that: “If you are lucky enough to look under 21 you will be asked to prove that you are over 18 when you buy alcohol”. Acceptable forms of proof are: photo card driving licence, passport or PASS* accredited proof of age card. The 'Challenge 21' initiative encourages sellers of alcohol to ask for official forms of identification from anyone that appears to be under 21-years-old. If a trader suspects someone is under that age and doesn't have the relevant identification, e.g. passport, photo driving licence, citizen card, they will not be served. Stewards on site also have the power to request proof of age if they see anyone drinking alcohol who appears to be under age. The scheme is being promoted because it can be very difficult to identify accurately whether someone is 17, 18, 19 or 20 but is usually easier to determine whether someone is 21. However if young people have official identification to prove they are over the age of 18 they will of course be served legally.
